HMS HELMSDALE (left) was a minesweeper attached to Tay Division Royal Naval Reserve in the mid 1980s. Based on a civilian trawler design, these vessels replaced the wooden Ton Class minesweepers which had been attached to the 11 reserve sea training centres throughout the UK. PHOTOs - Boyd Mutch
